Anxiety in Gilbert, AZ

Anxiety is a powerful feeling that can manifest both emotionally, through worry and tension, and physically, with symptoms like gastrointestinal distress or elevated blood pressure. At Serenity Mental Health Centers, our psychiatrists are dedicated to assisting patients in understanding whether their feelings are temporary or indicative of an anxiety disorder. Each person who comes to us is unique, and we understand that our patients might be facing various types of anxiety, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder, among others. Recognizing that there's no universal solution for managing anxiety, we've cultivated a secure and welcoming space where patients are encouraged to express their questions, share their concerns, and explore the treatment options available to them. Our goal is to identify a treatment plan that aligns with each individual's needs and values. To achieve this, we offer a range of anxiety treatments, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and ketamine IV therapy, among others. Our dedicated team is committed to supporting every patient on their path to better mental health.

Anxiety can result from a mix of genetic, environmental, and mental health factors. Traumatic situations or major life changes often act as catalysts for anxiety, with genetics and brain chemistry further influencing its onset. Key signs of anxiety are chronic worry, an inability to stay calm, and physical signs such as a quickened heartbeat, excessive sweating, and tense muscles. Additionally, affected individuals may struggle with focus, experience increased irritability, and suffer from disrupted sleep. Understanding and managing these triggers and symptoms is vital for the proper treatment and control of anxiety.

My TMS tech Sarah was amazing. She was kind, really cared about me getting well, and was very down to earth and attentive. She treated me like a person not a patient. I will miss her now that I'm done with treatments.

I was/am very happy with Serenity. I just went thru TMS. My depression was mostly eliminated. However, my anxiety is still there, though to a lesser degree.

Dr. Dahl is fantastic. It takes great notes. He talks to me and answers all my questions makes sure we have a good plan. Never makes me feel rushed even when I realize I'm talking too much. Serenity mental health center in general is also a facility I recommend. There was a shortage on one of my medications for months. And so I would call. They would get a message to the doctor and we would switch it to an alternative that the pharmacies had available. When sending a message through the portal or leaving a voicemail they call back the same day. I turn around time for the refill or what not to get to the pharmacy they say is up to 72 hours. It's usually less than 24. I definitely recommend this office. Even if you can't get in to see the same doctor. Your mental health is important. This is a great place to get help.

There are several risk factors that can increase the chances of developing anxiety. These may include:

  • A genetic predisposition
  • Environmental stressors such as trauma, abuse, or major life changes
  • Chronic health conditions like heart disease or diabetes
  • A history of substance abuse or heavy alcohol consumption
  • Lack of social support or social isolation
  • Certain personality traits, such as perfectionism or a tendency to avoid difficult situations
Are generalized anxiety disorder and general anxiety the same thing?

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) differs significantly from general anxiety. General anxiety is a common response to stressful or uncertain circumstances, while generalized anxiety disorder involves a more intense level of worry about everyday matters. Individuals with GAD often experience persistent worry without a clear cause and struggle to break this cycle.
